Just over six months ago we were absolutely chuffed to find out we had won the contract to design and develop the new website for the new Manchester Central Library Development Trust. Last night he had the great honour of being invited to Central Library Reborn event, being one of a select few to see the transformation of the new library first hand before it opens to the public this Saturday, and what a transformation it was.
Back in July when we launched the website we were invited to go on a tour of the library and how it was in it’s current state, which was pretty much a big circular building site. Today after a £48 million transformation it’s a 21st century hub of innovative technology combined with areas that haven’t changed since it was built in he 1930’s all pooled together in a fantastic bit of architecture, the transformation really is remarkable.
We took a few photos of some of the great features within this wonderful building to share before it opens to the public on Saturday..
The main hub of technology where people can meet for a coffee, interact and learn.
Large interactive electronic bookcase.
James our head of creative learning some of Manchester’s history.
Digital archive centre.
Central Library Café.
We were really impressed by this, a touchscreen type of table you sat round but it was projected onto using a HD projector.
The stairways around the library, a very impressive feature of the building!
The old library that had to be restored exactly how it was when built in the 1930’s, what a great job they had done might we add.
So there you have it, a sneak preview to the new Manchester Central Library opening this Saturday.
